Graduation Ceremony of 150 Young Afghan Women from (WICB) Program!

Kabul, Afghanistan 150 young Afghan Women celebrated their graduation ceremony from Women in Commercial Banking Program; the event was organized by AIBF with the support of USAID/DAI-WIE project. During an Official Ceremony attended by Mr.Ahmad Javed Wafa Chief Executive Officer of Pashtany Bank,Acting Governor Da Afghanistan Bank and Chairman AIBF-Mr. Wahidullah Nosher, Executive Director AIBF- Mr. Lutfullhaq Noor Paserly , Senior Officials from the Banks and MFIs and other Stakeholders. This program implemented by AIBF in Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Kandahar and Nangarhar, the WICB program provided the graduates with technical and managerial skills, as well as the valuable work experience needed to secure permanent job in the banking sector. These graduates initially received six months of classroom training at AIBF, followed by three-month internships in commercial banks, 26 of the trainees have already transitioned to full time job in various commercial banks of the country.The scarcity of women immensely felt in the banking sector due to the lack of capacity, Women in Commercial Banking program has been a substantial phenomenon, via this program we have produced new talents to fill the gender gap in the financial sector of Afghanistan and to strengthen Afghanistan’s Banking Sector, said by Mr. Lutfullhaq Noor Paserly, Executive Director-AIBF.The WICB was an essential program. It was great initiative taken by USAID and AIBF to bridge the gap between male and female professionals in the banking sector of Afghanistan said by Mr. Ahmad Jawed Wafa, CEO, Pashtany Bank.
